19/03/2004 Training hard for London. |
|
There was an article printed in The Mercury today!. Check it out on my Newspaper articles page.
I'm really pleased that the piece included the article about Dad. |
10/03/2004 My fundraising is featured in British Runner Magazine! |
|
After the disappointment of missing last year's London Triathlon, my place is booked for this year and I am so pleased that Cancer Research UK
have featured my fundraising in an article in the March issue of British Runner Magazine!! It's in the shops now, so don't miss it.
I will get a copy scanned and uploaded onto my site soon for those of you who missed it. |
17/02/2004 The drought is over! |
|
Having had the really bad news of missing The London Triathlon in Sherborne in August last year, due to tearing my left calf muscle, I am now back in the saddle;
in the pool and pounding the roads!!!
My 2004 training began in earnest in early Feb whilst on holiday in Tenerife. You can follow my early progress by going to my February Diary and checking out my training. |
1/02/2004 They thought it was all over!! |
|
I did decide to retire from Triathlon last year.
However, as Cancer Research UK are using my photo again this year and I am being featured in the March 2004 edition of a running mag (more details to follow), I feel that I could do at least one more! I am doing The London Triathlon and if training goes well I may go in for Royal Windsor too. I love The London Triathlon and always feel really comfortable during the race, but Windsor is a bit of a bogie for me. I have never really felt good during the swim stage and don't feel I've conquered it. I would still like to do Windsor and have a really good swim leg. Maybe this year?!! |
12/08/2003 Not fit enough for the Half Ironman. |
|
My dreams of doing the Half Ironman collapsed around me this summer after my calf injury. I have not been able to get back into my training and it just wouldn't be sensible
to attempt a race of such difficulty.
I have decided to hang up my Triathlon kit for now. As I'm now a very proud Dad and work commitments continue to grow, I think enough is enough. |
20/07/2003 I've had to pull out of The London Tri. |
| Not at all happy. In fact in quite a lot of pain. In some last minute bike training I ripped my left calf muscle and can hardly walk. I'm absolutely gutted as I have raised just over £1,200 for the race. My apologies to those who sponsored me and huge thanks to you all. |
30/12/2002 My Triathlon Training has begun!!! |
|
Having decided to compete in the Half Ironman Triathlon in Sherborne at the end of August 2003, my training is underway!!!
You can follow my early progress by going to my December Diary and checking out my training. |
22/12/2002 A starring role on the 2003 Cancer Research UK Calendar! |
|
Cancer Research UK are to feature Triathlon as a Fund Raising event from Jan 10th 2003. I have been pushing them
for 2 years to
get more people to enter for Charity. I have raced in 10 Triathlons now have seen very few charity triathletes. Triathlons seem to be full of
"nutters" who compete for the sheer madness of it!!! It's a great sport with some of the most wonderful and friendly people and I think it lends itself
well for fundraising.
My photo will be on the 2003 Cancer Research UK calendar!! I'm really pleased and honoured. It is being sent to over 360,000 people and the photo has me with my Cancer Research UK t-shirt and "For My Dad.co.uk on the front, so hoping to get lots more visits to the site. |

|
I have decided not to compete in all 10 planned Triathlons this year. I am up to something else which I am not willing to disclose at this time.
But I was in need of a new challenge and I feel I've raised all I can
thru Triathlons.
I will update you all very soon!! Tee Hee!! |

|
This is a steep, local hill in Flax Bourton that I have wanted to conquer for nearly a year now. I did try last year but it was too steep on that occasion. Having trained hard all week on
my Turbo Trainer, I went for it and I cannot believe I've done it!!
